DebugBar for IE

Check out this awesome tool:

Key Features:

  • Inspect HTML and modify source code in real time.
  • View and analyses network traffic.
  • Inspect CSS information.
  • Analyze javascript code.
  • Test multiple versions of IE (5.5 to 10)

It’s $80 for a single or $395 for up to 10 users.

I have the free version which works well but the one feature that is disabled is the “Inspect Element” context item.  When testing with Firefox using Firebug I am always using the Inspect Element.

Filter Items in the GAC

I needed to find all of the IBM dlls in the GAC.

gacutil /l | find /i "IBM."

and the results get dumped to the console window:

IBM.Data.DB2.Entity, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7c307b91aa13d208, processorArchitecture=x86
IBM.Data.Informix, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7c307b91aa13d208, processorArchitecture=x86
IBM.Data.DB2, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7c307b91aa13d208
IBM.Data.Informix, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7c307b91aa13d208

  • The first argument is the letter l as in Lemmon.
  • Then a pipe |.
  • The second argument is the letter I as in Ice with the first 3 letters AND a period . in quotes “”.

Well I want the results in a text file:

gacutil /l | find /i "IBM." > C:\temp\gac.txt

Now the results are in a text file.

Wow My Last Post Was 1 Year Ago…

…maybe I should abandon ship.

I started blogging in May 2006 when I set up  In that time I have switched jobs 3 or 4 times, I have gone back and forth with my love/hate relationship with Linux, I got way into Ajax & PHP, I rode the Web 2.0 wave, I went crazy for GTD and I have blow way too much money and time on Magic The Gathering, Star Wars Miniatures, Horror Clix, Warhammer 40K and Zombies!

Blogging is fun when I am really into something and want to tell the world about it but trying to maintain a blog can become a burden while working 40+ hours per-week along, spending time with my wife & kids along with all of the other things that go on in life.

Character Map on Windows XP?

I have windows XP but when I type “CHARMAP” in Run, it says that windows can’t find it? WTF!!!

Character Map is a Windows Component.
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map.
If it is not there it is not installed.
Go to Control Panel>Add Remove>Windows Components>Accessories and Utilities>Details>Accessories>Details and select Character Map..
Windows will install it from the Windows XP on the HDD.

Getting in Shape with a Balance Board

It’s no secret that I’m over-weight and out of shape.

I was hoping that skateboarding would provide a fun alternative to getting fit but it’s now winter in New England so skateboarding is not really an option.

The next best thing(s):

Balance Board – “A balance board is a device used for , , , , and other kinds of . It is a similar to a that the user usually stands on, usually with the left and right foot at opposite ends of the board. The user’s body must stay balanced enough to keep the board’s edge from touching the ground.” ~
